All Mercury outboards come standard with 3-years Mercury Limited Warranty coverage. Available for separate purchase is the ability to add up to 5 additional years (8 total years) of Mercury Platinum Warranty coverage.
Important Note: This warranty is only available for separate purchase with the purchase of any Mercury 2.5 -14.9HP outboard.
- A factory-backed extended service contract, Mercury Product Protection is administered 100% by Mercury Marine
- Is non-declining coverage. The value of the coverage does not decrease over the life of the contract.
- Is transferable to subsequent owners, which typically increases the resale value of your engine.
- Must be purchased before your engine’s Mercury Limited Warranty expires. Once purchased, Mercury Product Protection coverage takes effect the day the Mercury Limited Warranty expires.
- Platinum Level Warranty coverage protects against mechanical and electrical failures.
This warranty offers applies only to Mercury 2.5-14.9 HP outboards. Must be purchased before your engine’s Mercury Limited Warranty expires. You can check to see if your engine is available for Mercury product protection by contacting us with your outboards VIN.

Platinum Coverage Details
The Mercury Platinum Warranty coverage is available for purchase with a new Mercury outboard motor. OR, it may be purchased as an add on to your current Mercury outboard.

Comprehensive coverage (including labor) electrical failures caused by a defect in material or workmanship – similar to the Factory Limited Warranty.
Covers all Mercury and Quicksilver engine-related accessories such as steering fixtures, remote controls and miscellaneous instrumentation (except propellers).
Provides up to $200 per claim occurrence toward the cost of on-water towing charges necessary to perform approved repairs to covered products.
Provides up to $200 per claim occurrence to perform approved repairs to covered products on non-trailerable boats (26 feet in length or greater).
Transferable to a subsequent recreational-use purchaser within 30 business days from the date of sale. Engines not purchased directly from another recreational-use owner or from an Authorized Mercury dealer are ineligible for coverage.
